Meet Avery

Avery stands at the helm of her farm, but her journey to this leadership role has been anything but conventional. With a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology obtained from Alfred University in New York, followed by a Master of Arts in Management of Aging Services from the University of Massachusetts Boston, she initially charted a path dedicated to understanding and supporting the aging population.

One somewhat unexpected benefit of the pandemic was the closure of the Senior Center where she had been employed. While this turn of events was certainly unplanned, it provided Avery with the invaluable opportunity to immerse herself in the world of horticulture. She gained hands-on experience working in a greenhouse and contributed significantly as a member of the flower crew on a local organic farm. Through her hard work, she ascended to the role of Flower Manager, which has now paved the way for her to realize her dream of establishing her own farm.

Having been born and raised in Shutesbury, Avery is thrilled to transform her childhood home into a flourishing flower farm. In this endeavor, she is fortunate to draw upon the wealth of knowledge amassed over 35 years by her mother, a skilled gardener with a deep understanding of floriculture.

Avery has long been passionate about crafts, and her dedication has only deepened in recent years. She is now eager to share not only the fruits of her labor—her exquisite flowers—but also her accumulated wisdom with the wider community. Her prior experience in running wellness programs at the Senior Center, coupled with her background as a camp counselor, has uniquely positioned her to create accessible flower programs that cater to diverse audiences.

About the Farm

Our farm, situated in the picturesque town of Shutesbury, Massachusetts, encompasses nearly three acres of vibrant land. We are dedicated to organic and sustainable farming practices, striving to enhance our environmental stewardship as our resources and finances permit. Our commitment to sustainable flower farming encompasses a range of practices that not only cultivate healthy soil and robust flowers but also safeguard the surrounding ecosystem.

What sets us apart is our unwavering dedication to providing locally grown flowers, avoiding international imports and the associated pesticides. We prioritize ensuring that the blossoms gracing your home are of the utmost quality and safety, particularly for children and pets. In light of our discoveries regarding the toxicity of various flowers and greens available in grocery stores, we made it our mission to offer arrangements that allow pet owners to enjoy splendid bouquets without concern.

Our diverse selection includes an array of flowers and greens, featuring native species, perennials, woody plants, and annuals. Additionally, we cultivate herbal tea products, crafting our own unique blends that reflect the essence of our farm. In the spring, we are particularly excited to offer a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program, in which you receive a weekly bouquet showcasing more than 40 varieties of daffodils, tulips, lilacs, and more.

For special occasions or educational endeavors, we offer a mobile bouquet bar, available for rent, as well as classes such as "The Basics of Sustainable Flower Arranging." We also provide a variety of floral arts and crafts workshops, and we are eager to collaborate with artists who incorporate dried floral materials in their creations, offering them a sustainable alternative to commercially sourced options.

Should you have a specific flower project or requirement, we encourage you to contact us. We would be delighted to discuss how we can assist you and foster a meaningful connection.
